James O'Toole is a recording engineer, producer, songwriter and musician from Halifax, Nova Scoia. James has a Recording Arts certificate from Nova Scotia Community College and over four years of experience recording and producing a variety of bands in the Halifax music scene. James has been trained to use industry standard digital audio editing software such as Pro Tools, Adobe Audition and Reaper and for the use of professional audio equipment.
James is also a multi-instrumentalist who has a keen interest and appreciation for all genres of music.
In 2009 James recorded and mixed Tongan Death Grip by Tongan Death Grip; it was named one of Halifax’s top 10 singles of the decade by The Coast in the article “Singled out: Top Ten Halifax Singles”. Tongan Death Grip has been distributed across Canada and the United States by House Party Records and across Europe by P-Trash Records.
In September of 2010 James worked on the feature film Roller Town as a Sound PA.
In January of 2011 James worked on the short film "Mr.Happy" as the boom operator and post sound mixer.
In March of 2011 James worked as the boom operator for season 3 of TV with TV's Jonathan Torrens.
When not working, James likes to keep busy by performing in Windom Earle, Nerd Army, The Graboids and OUTTACONTROLLER.
